lol there was a guy who read the partially translated novel, then used a machine translated site, he was upset that the novel reused the plot devices over and over again and especially the harem part where he stuck them in the
Sadly not every studio is like Motion Magic, Sparkly Animation and Original Force, Soyep mainly deals with 15 minutes episodes and from most of their works they probably dont have a lot of budget, they do put out some good quality donghuas, like Liuxing Huan Jian, although they are not at the quality of the studios I mentioned. they are currently producing the new donghua Shen Ji Long Wei for Youku
Yes I was puzzled with the beginning since they
Personally I felt that the novel should have ended, this is a personal opinion you dont have to agree with me lol
Hah, about Subing. What is 400k years in martial arts novels. They're like
"Honey I'm gonna close down, be back for dinner... in about 1.2 trillion years"
Or if you calculate action you see that they spend actively first 10-15 years and then 99.9999% of their life is simply condensed into sitting and pumping power until they fart breakthrough. Average active life is shorter than mortals
This is the type of plot devices that really annoys me lol, the thousands of years, millions of years, like why even cultivate when most of your life is just sitting in somewhere and everything you know outside have probably died or changed. I can accept a few months, a few years but hundreds to millions, nope. And the thing is, only the main character and whoever the author wants to level up are the ones that does it, what about other people? Think they dont have the same idea of becoming more powerful? lol
I prefer the idea of actual fighting to increase your strength and experience. I think its fine to cultivate to a certain extent, but without battle experience you can only go so far before you can't get past your bottleneck.
D&D somewhat takes the other extreme. You can make a character, he's a teenager and 1st level. Go adventuring for about a month, clear a few dungeons with your pals and come back epic level. Of course game time in the real world it would take playing several hours once a week for over 84 consecutive weeks...7 years.
Well, that is how games do it. Usually games like that are not for casual players. There is as well this, games can be thought out well by developer and games can be.... just done. Those thought out well respect your game knowledge
Take Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen. If you don't know what you're doing reaching level 200 with maxed gear will be pretty much the same time as in D&D. If you know... you can casually do it in 8 hours and 4-5 if you obsess with speed over gain.
I know exactly what you mean. There is even funnier aspect of plot device failure
[Bad guys]: "Boss, shall we attack?"
[Boss]: "Not yet, according to the script MC is stuck in mad cultivation right now... if we attack in 336489 years 3 months 5 days 4 hours and 28 minutes it'll be exact time when he can show up in last second."
I usually prefer stories which only happen on the first mortal plan exactly because of short timeline like WDQK or BTTH. Surprisingly TGR which happens on upper plane has sensible timeline as well
As far as long timeline goes, Against the sky supreme is exception. There is always a reason for prolonged situps, they are 99% done in extremely short chunks and author was careful with time skip wrapups in the plot. The 2 million years whack'a'mole chase/psychological guerrilla warfare in Dongzhong is awesome example how to to prolonged time properly. There is a reason why they close up, there is a reason why they have to do that and there is a plot behind it. They are simply forced as it is the only way to force enemy to partially open the border while they are hunting them. Although whole affair lasts 2 million years, it is sensible and anything but boring since they massacre the city, run away and hide, close up, massacre another city,,,, rinse and repeat until every normal person in enemy shoes wouldn't go crazy and dumbfounded
mhm I prefer the story during the first realm as well, since going to the next realm would mean starting over again, I know it gives the authors another opportunity to fluffy and write the same thing over with different characters, villains and certain events from the beginning realm, more words means more money lol
Were you able to read the novel in English? Can you tell me where at? I couldn't find it.
Also, was it a decent translation? If it is MTL crap I won't bother.
Nope, not in english but translation strangely varies from site to site. Some are unreadable and some are actually not much worse than those translated. It is easiest to find if you simply copy paste chinese name here into search and then read 1st chapter to see. tianyabook for example is not terrible usually

Bro climbing with his dogs out
Omg I'm so sick of theses ppl. Instead of cultivating or becoming friends/allies with the MC they always choose to seek death sigh or plot some nonsensical scheme
It is called arrogance and in every other story it is exactly as you say. Here ppl cannot afford doing as you say
This story is actually exception in that point when the story evolves.
Just pill pavilion for example is rotten to the core. All upper management and their ppl are from at least 3 different factions. You will see that soon when Shen Subing tells her story and reason why she joined to her teacher
ok
mamaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

First there was a big mistake in previous episode where they write 3 months in subtitles instead of 3 days.
-> If someone didn’t understand, here is some detail regarding the whole plot of few previous episodes:
Normal Pagoda Cultivation: 1 day = 3 days (Anyone even appreciates students can cultivate by giving a certain amount of spirit stone)
Special Pagoda Cultivation: 3 months = 4.5 years which will be 45 months (Anyone can cultivate even students from other 8 factions of Inner sect can also participate whenever pagoda opens after a certain amount of time)
-> Epilogue:
In one episode it was mentioned that it’s very difficult to cultivate in this pagoda then Deacon tell him that only top 200 Pill Division students are eligible (This isn’t mean lower than 200 rank students are not eligible. It means the strength which is required to enter pagoda by giving gravitational test can only handle by top 200 students).
-> Test Rules:
3 hours for Floor 1 - Floor 99
1 hour each will be given after entering 99th floor
Damn, they truly know how to milk the living hell out of these events. Also, I like how many people who watches these shows and complain but they are way past the 1st episode. Its really common that the shows and the novel are not exactly or not even close to being the same. But, in all honestly, mixed opinions is good for the world we live in, makes the cycle of opinions complete a full rotation.
Finally read through whole novel and I have to say it is really bad luck animation and voice acting is so stiff. His character is far better there because of extreme emotions of anger, care and brutality. He is far too calm in animation. If only animation was done in BTTH quality, but those studios sadly seem to avoid extreme content (brutality, sex, massacres)
Otherwise without spoiling anything I can only say few things. Right now progress reached 1/10th of the novel. Novel consists of 4 arcs: punishment continent, lower divine realm, ancestral divine realm (his former realm where he was killed) and supreme divine realm. Story in the novel does not forget characters in one single time without at least good explanation. No question gets unanswered in fact you get more answers than questions. And unlike other martial arts novels which gets worse and worse with the scope of progress and dimension, this one is exact opposite... each next arc is far better in quality due to good choices. Some things that are similar are rewritten far better (like the second climb, shorter and far more enjoyabe) and in some cases where repetition would show up it is outright told in a way "hell, I already did this, this time I'm too lazy to do it again"
All I can say is that this novel is one of the best stories in martial arts category and if there is one flaw it would be the fact he is picking wives like litter on every occasion.
Also, I really have no clue how animation could ever fix 2 major fuckups
- Chaos supreme is a bulky shield guy? Good luck on fixing that one, I can't even imagine how they'll approach this without rewriting 50% of main plot
- He has white short hair? Getting white hair for certain reasons very late in the story is like big part of his character build in the plot
